Team Photos
Here is the team photo. Unfortunately not everyone could make it, but it turned out well. Below are some pictures of Father's blessing and of the boys playing a match.

Here we are getting the boys to lineup in a flag rugby match!

Some more action from the Little Gryphons.

Coach Nick Byrne, one of the high school players who has been helping to coach the little guys leads them to the sideline, for one of the many benefits of being a rugby player...juiceboxes and teddy grahams!

Mater Ecclesiae Gryphons
I wanted to update you all as we are getting started here in the spring. We are now training a high school team and the "Little Gryphons" who are 5-7 year olds who will be playing flag rugby and learning the basics so they can grow playing rugby. We have taken a nickname as you can see. We have chosen the Gryphon as it was a symbol of the dual nature of Christ in medieval times having the head and torso of an eagle (king of heaven) and the body of a lion (king of earth).
We thank Autotrader.com for their sponsorship this spring. They have graciously provided us with much needed equipment and t-shirts to get us going. Please note the link on the sidebar and visit the site if you are in the market for a car or looking to sell yours. We are still in need of more sponsors so if your company is interested please contact Chris at materrugby(at)yahoo.com.
We are made up mostly of homeschooled children from the Camden Diocese and welcome anyone interested in learning how to play this great game and making some new friends. Rugby is a game you can play for a lifetime and at Mater Ecclesiae we strive to do everything in the context of our Holy Catholic Faith. That is the young men that wear the Mater Ecclesiae Crest will have a devotion to Our Lady, will be Catholic gentlemen on and off the pitch, and set an example for the younger boys who will look to them as the next generation of players.
If your son is interested contact Chris at the above email for info.
